[ruby-talk:11757] inheritance and mixins

I have the following code:

module Downloader
	TMPDIR = `echo $TMPDIR`.chomp + '/softwatcher/'

	def initialize()
		Dir.mkdir(TMPDIR) if not File.stat(TMPDIR).directory?
	end
	...
end

class RpmPackage < Package
	include Downloader
	def initialize(name, specfile=nil)
		...
		super(name)
		...
	end
	...
end


When I wrote super(name) in RpmPackage I intend to call Package.initialize
method. But instead, Downloader.initialize got called.

[ That's because Ruby make Downloader transparent proxy superclass for
RpmPackage? ]

Then, how can I write initialize method for Downloader module which won't be
called by RpmPackage but will be executed at module creation?

And another minor thing, did getenv() is missing and am I right with
TMPDIR = `echo $TMPDIR`.chomp + '/softwatcher/'
