Someone needs to do it.

Well as I understand, he was able to throw it together
in Perl fairly easily because there were a bunch of
packages on CPAN he could leverage.  There were more
building blocks, and that is why it was doable.  But
working from scratch, it is probably easier to do this
kind of thing in Ruby.
