The classes with embedded colons don't seem to work for me on Redhat
Linux 7.0, either.  It seems to think "File::Stat" refers to a "Stat"
method of "File".

Or am I missing something?

Other than that, this is yet another fantastic resource ... and goes a
long way to answering my request for an index in the on-line version
of Programming Ruby.  I'd still like to have the index, since it would
point to good examples and othe information, but "ri" gives me a quick
reference, which is great.
