Thank you to those who pointed me to PuTTY.  This seems to have the capabilities
I need.  However, I have hit another snag.  The Sun's idea of xterm only
supports bold and underline and so forth, not colour.  The options that
say "this supports colour" like Co pa and so on, don't seem to appear in
the terminfo entry for dtterm, which I know does support colour.  So, 
can anyone:
   tell me how I can find which terminfo entries support colour reliably
or
   supply me with a terminfo enty for PuTTY itself, so that the suns
   will talk sense to it?
