Subject: [ruby-talk:10913] Any writeups of how to write extconf.rb (and use mkmf)?

This topic is introduced in "Programming Ruby" but I don't know if there are
any other resources about how to write good, portable "extconf.rb" scripts
for Ruby extension modules. I'm especially interested in advice on how to
handle the "native" Windows (i.e. "mswin32") builds, since the current
incarnation of "mkmf.rb" doesn't support that platform very well.
