From: Jonathan Feinberg Date: 2001-02-25T17:10:03+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:11515] TCPsocket broken on Win2k? Any attempt to use get() or post() in Net::HTTP results in /h/ruby/lib/ruby/1.6/net/protocol.rb:427:in `new': Invalid argument - "connect(2)" (Errno::EINVAL) Here is a simple example, which causes the above error: #! /usr/bin/env ruby require 'net/http' http = Net::HTTP.new(address = 'www.pragmaticprogrammer.com') begin response, body = http.get('/index.html') puts body rescue Net::ProtoRetriableError => err err.data.each { |k,v| puts "#{k} #{v}" } end I am using the 1.6.2-3 release from the Pragmatic site. I am not using RubyWin. I have seen several threads at groups.google.com concerning this problem, but with no mention of a fix. Any clues floating about? -- Jonathan Feinberg jdf@pobox.com Sunny Brooklyn, NY http://pobox.com/~jdf
