Hi,
I was able to build ruby on IRIX. However a change had
to be made to gc.c where it calls the gcc

__builtin_frame_address(2) -- this call results in a
crash. so put it in 
#elif defined(__GNUC__) && !defined(__alpha__) && !defined(__APPLE__)
&& !defined(__MIPS__). Now everything is fine.
