I don't intend to write a C version at all for now. I also won't approach
the Perl code... not exactly beautiful, but also most of it does not apply
to the way things are done in Ruby.

(anecdote: I was working in a Perl shop before and we had to overload the
dumping mechanism for some special classes. Data::Dumper had a mechanism
to do that, but it was so limited that we were wondering how anyone could
even use it. We had our own version of Data::Dumper because of that =)

My current version already supports both Ruby and LISP output, pluggable.

I'll make it part of the next version of MetaRuby (I've been thinking
about doing this for a while) but I'll rework it a bit before.
