[ruby-talk:11278] Learning Ruby

Fellow Ruby Enthusiasts:

In researching the latest (scripting) languages, Ruby became an obvious
first choice. However, most of the documentation is beyond that of a
beginner. Is there a beginning programming pamphlet or book available that
would walk one through the programming basics, terminology, etc., and
oriented toward Ruby, so as not to confuse one with material that will not
subsequently be applicable?

This will be my first attempt to program outside a database environment.
