[ruby-talk:11132] Problem compiling in MySQL support

I'm trying to install MySQL support for Ruby on my redhat 7.0 linux box.

I've unzipped mysql-ruby-2.3.1.tar.gz into /usr/local/src/mysql-ruby-2.3.1

I edited extconf.rb so that the mysql base directory is correct
(/usr/local/mysql, in my case).

"make" works, but when I try to run the next step (according to the
instructions in the README), I get:

[root@www mysql-ruby-2.3.1]# ruby -I. ./test.rb localhost root
<mysql_root_password>
./test.rb:11:in `require': libmysqlclient.so.10: cannot open shared object
file: No such
file or directory - ./mysql.so (LoadError)
        from ./test.rb:11

I looked for libmysqlclient.so.10 and it is in the
/usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql as is usual (I think).

What am I doing wrong?
