Maybe any tutorial about the initialization does not exists online. 

At first, every class (including Class class) is an instance of the
Class class.  `new' is an instance method of Class (We denote this
fact by `Class#new').  Class#new creates and return a new object of
the class.  `initialize' is a private method of Object.  This method
is invoked from Class#new with new's argument.  All instance variable
should be initialized in `initialize'.  The value of `initialize' is
used anywhere.  The method signature of `initialize' determines the
signature of that class's `new'. 

So, you should read Class#new and Object#initialize in the reference
manual.
