But you can use the [] constructor

   Hash[1,2,3,4]		# => {1=>2, 3=>4}

   Hash[*"a=b,c=d,e=f".tr('=', ',').split(',')]
                                # => {"e"=>"f", "a"=>"b", "c"=>"d"}

(note the asterisk...)
