as gui development is very importand today (look for example

be very useful if one can do Gui in ruby in an easy way.

but to develop a complete new Gui toolkit (if you ment this)
is maybe not a good idea.

there are already a couple of (often unstable) bindings like
Gtk, Qt ord Tk.

I think, that  Gtk+ would be a good choice as a standard gui 
toolkit for Rugy, because it is 

1. open source
2. quite easy
3 . very powerful
4. is currently also ported to windows

Qt is also a really great tool, bat I have read, that making
bindings to Gtk+ is easier (because it is writtin in C, not in C++)

Gtk+ has already bindings for nearly every language (including the import 
one like, C++, Python and Perl) so a lot of developers can translate
their experience with this bindings to Ruby.

Gtk2.0 will appear next year AFAIK.
so I think, that making good bindings for this would be very important for
Ruby.

I am currently playing with Python/Gtk+ and Inti(a c++ framework sponsored by 
Red Hat, which uses Gtk+ as an underlying toolking, but wrappes it in an
oo framework)

Gtk+ is cool and Ruby is cool

Both would be even cooler, if you can use them for all Gui work
