Subject: [ruby-talk:6900] Catching stdout and stderr

Hi,
can anybody tell me how to execute a shell command and "catching" the 
output being made to ($)stderr and ($)stdout?
IO.popen() only seems to be fetching the stdout-output.

Python has a special command called: 
    	commands.getstatusoutput(...)
