Before we (you :) delve into lengthy discussion, I'd like to note couple of
points.

First, I'm very pleased to see people care enough to consider
standardization even on this area.

But second, I'm pretty sure all the efforts on std-syntax-highlight are will
be unsuccessful. I, for one, use dark text on light background on my
stationary, big, and not-too-crisp CRT. I tend to do just the opposite on my
surprisingly colourful and sharp TFT of my laptop.

What it comes to customization of colorization, I can say I'm no master at
it. Basically I prefer to have as good contrast as possible in order to make
as small fonts as possible usable enough. The guy next to me uses
unbelievable weird colors, that I simply don't want to look at. He has spent
some time tweaking them, so I guess he's pretty satisfied.

Anyway, my real point is, that the need for colorization changes, and so
should the colors. In different lighting I'd use different colors. On
slideshow different from the screen. On different screen contrasts and
sharpness I'd change them again. I can't see there's much idea to stick with
some predetermined set.
