OK, let's say that Tcl/Tk's corporate sponsor/parent/guardian has passed 
away and that Tcl/Tk is now is completely dependent on the kindness of 
friends. How well it will thrive is an open question. I only occasionally 
sample comp.lang.tcl, but after Ajuba's passing, I saw an unsettling 
number of "if you want/expect to see feature XYZ, you should step in and 
implement it yourself" sorts of comments.

That's not quite what I think the Ruby world is interested in with respect 
to the future use of Tk.

Well, I was writing about Ajuba's (developmental) support, not newgroup 
assistance. Ajuba's developmental support of Tcl/Tk was certainly a 
*major* factor in the past (albeit not the only one), and its passing is 
certain to have *some* significant impact on ongoing development; whether 
the change in "momentum" becomes evident sooner or later, or whether the 
change in "momentum" is large or small, still remains to be seen.
