I am sensitive to this because I have been on the receiving end of it from Python people enough to become well and truly sick of it. FWIW I have found at work that it is very effective to always find good and bad things to say at the same time. The key message is that you have a balanced view of the world, and won't recommend something unless you think it really is a good fit. This avoids having people just tune you out. I don't know whether you know this already, I am just saying it in case someone could use it.
