From: Lyle Johnson Date: 2000-12-20T08:40:01+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:7721] Ruby enhancement request Because the format string for rb_scan_args() only uses single digits to determine the number of required and optional arguments this means that you can't have more than nine of either, right? I am wrapping some C++ code for which several functions have more than nine optional arguments (i.e. there are a bunch of arguments but most of them have default values specified). I can work around this for now by simply not exposing those last few arguments -- meaning that the user can't override the default values. In practice this is not a big deal but ultimately it would be nice for the argument list exposed to Ruby to be identical to that used in the C++ code. So I guess I'm requesting an improved version of this function (rb_scan_args2?) that accepts an arbitrary number of required and optional arguments. Thanks!
