[ruby-talk:5983] html, forms, ruby and apache

I am a newby as far as internet programming and ruby is concerned.

I have on my system (Debian Potato Linux) an apache module for ruby.
How do I use it? I know I can run some ruby scripts now using a
browser like Netscape.

What I want to do learn is how to use a browser like netscape to
handle database queries with ruby and Postgresql as backend. I was
also considering php as an alternative because one can embed it in an
html-document.

My question is how to use ruby in such a setup. Do I have to learn
how to use the cgi-module (and all the details about cgi) or can ruby
be used in the same way php is used?

What would be ruby's advantages in such a setup compared to php?
