   somehow conbfigure has detected that you are cross compiling
  which happens when 'cc' exists and creates some output, but
  it can't be executed ( purely guess work .. )

  try running with sh -x configure
  and watch the points where configure moans '' checking if cross compiluing .. yes'
  it should say 'no'
