Thanks very much, Aleksi...

I had intended to put a trailing $ on the end of each
pattern. I had not realized that the pattern was matching
only a portion of the string.

My only defense is that I had been without sleep for over
30 hours at the time... and I find regular expressions,
in general, almost as confusing as income tax laws. :)
