Thanks for bringing up these question. I had it too a few days ago,
since I am still in the stage of learning ruby.

Yes, I got that notion too. It looks like the builtin classes and the
standard library is built with this style.

'Programming Ruby' on the other hand seems to prefer the first style
(SmashedTogetherWords) for all names. I once read and liked, that it
is good practice to follow the coding conventions used in _the_ book or
reference that is released on a language. In the western world PR is
_the book on ruby at the moment.

I personally prefer the style from PR too. But even more I would like
to follow the crowd, since it eases the exchange of code, especially
in free software.

So you know my style, but I would acclaim a consensus even more.
