It worked fine, but I ran into a conflict with readline. Both readline and gc.c define values for xfree, xmalloc, etc., although the ones in gc.c seem pointless. (They're simple wrappers to ruby_xfree, etc.) However, having both defined symbols around leads to errors when trying to link in readline. (Multiple definitions.) I simply deleted the corresponding functions in gc.c. Was this a bad thing? Will I suffer for it later? What is the point of having those functions there, if nothing in the entire Ruby code base ever calls them? Thanks, --Johann -- Johann Hibschman johann@physics.berkeley.edu
