What would help me separate different kinds of wheat (no chaff on this list :) is a different standard for subject headers, maybe with the number at the end. For some reason the two news readers I've been using, netscape and knode, don't thread comp.lang.ruby messages very well (maybe due to the mirroring with ruby-talk?). I also subscribe to ruby-talk and have the same threading problem with mail readers. I'd like to be able to sort by subject, but with those dang /\[ruby-talk:\d+\]/ thingies, it's worse than sorting by date. Solving this problem would make it easier to skip uninteresting messages. In principle, I could write a filter (in ruby, of course) to process ruby-talk messages so that they can be sorted by subject. But that's not newbie-friendly. -- Joel VanderWerf skeeler@sirius.com
