I like the human idea... "Ruby: Programmers' best friend" to show it's
really human, how about showing typical programmers?

For the wizard, perhaps use JR "Bob" Dobbs image? That'd be a great
little in-joke, as a melodic counterpoint to Python's homage to Monty.
It's also a nice, if inaccurate, reference to Dr Dobbs magazine. I
grew up on Dr Dobbs... how many others here did?

For the sorceress, again, show a typical programmer. Unfortunately, I
can't think of a similarly quirky female figure.

Then the programmers can be creating the shining Ruby, to show that
ordinary people can create something perfect when they have Ruby.
