I don't know of any specific books targeted to Windows Users, but you
might want to look into installing CygWin on your Windows machine -- it
gives you a Unix-like environment and a system call interface that
resembles Unix, as well as lots of GNU utilities like Perl, gcc, etc.  I
haven't tried building Ruby under CygWin, but I notice that the prebuilt
Ruby binary for Windows uses CygWin.
