[ruby-talk:5093] binding weirdness

From: "Brian F. Feldman" <green@...>
Date: 2000-09-25 00:59:42 UTC
List: ruby-talk #5093
I notice that (using 1.6.0 and 1.6.1 snapshot; finding some other kinda
strange problems, too...) binding acts very strangely with regard to
defining a method after it has been previously accessed with an error.
Example:

{"/home/green"}$ irb
irb(main):001:0> getopts
NameError: undefined local variable or method `getopts' for #<Object:0x807bd00>
(irb):1:in `irb_binding'
irb(main):002:0> require 'getopts'
true
irb(main):003:0> getopts
NameError: undefined local variable or method `getopts' for #<Object:0x807bd00>
(irb):3:in `irb_binding'
irb(main):004:0> method :getopts
#<Method: Object(Object)#getopts>
irb(main):005:0> getopts
ArgumentError: wrong # of arguments(0 for 1)
(irb):5:in `getopts'
(irb):5:in `irb_binding'
irb(main):006:0>

I'll try to fix it sooner or later, but I wouldn't mind if someone else
figured out what was wrong before I :) So, anyone know what's going on here?
