Well, I for one see *two* books listed on the Ruby home page. But only
one of them will be available in English "any day now" (tm).

AFAIK, the Dave and Andy book "Programming Ruby, A Pragmatic Programmers
Guide" will be the only one available in English for the near future.

AFAIK, some time early next year, Yukihiro Matsumoto (aka Matz) and Keiju
Ishitsuka will have finished the English version of "The Ruby Programming
Language".

I think you will find the Dave and Andy book reasonably
Ruby-beginner-friendly and example rich, despite its OO-expert-friendly
orientation. After all, they're pragmatic programmers, and it wouldn't be
pragmatic Ruby-meme programming to make such things mutually exclusive.
