Jon,

Ruby was first brought to my attention last week. Since then, I have downloaded and installed it on the Unix system I use at work as well as my Mac--which runs MacOS 9. I went to install it in LinuxPPC which I have also run on my PowerBook G3 ('98 Wall Street model) only to discover that it was already present. In amy case, the answer to your question seems to be that ruby will install and run on a Mac using MacOS 9. I say seems to, because I have only come upon the Mac version which I found on a Japanese web page. I took a copy home, and after Stuffit Expander took care of the compression, I found myself looking at a folder with 8-10 files in it. Unfortunately, the documentation was all in Japanese. I double-clicked on the executable and selected biorhytm.rb; the program asked me some questions before returning the number of days since my birth and the day of the week that I was born on, but it hung when it tried to create the chart. I had to reboot my Mac, so I have!
left it alone since then. I am learning how to use it by working through the tutorials in LinuxPPC. If you find any information on Ruby for the Mac in either English, please let me know. Thanks.
