[ruby-talk:5044] Strange ruby 1.6.0/cygwin1.1/Nt4 behavior/bug

Hi all,

So I figured I'd go install 1.6.0 final. I've previously been running the
preview (000904) successfully. After installing the latest cygwin
and the 000919 ruby tarball I get mysterious hangs when I require *some*
extensions or packages. For example with RubyUnit 0.2.5:

$ ruby -e'require "runit/testcase"'
(hangs and takes all CPU power it can get but at low priority)

Similar things happen with some of my own extensions. All of the things
that hangs successfully runs on 1.6.0 (2000-09-04) on my laptop.

When I step through the 'require "runit/testcase"' statement with debug
it hangs on "require 'runit/test'". However, when I do

$ ruby -e'require "runit/test"'
$

it returns without hanging. Might it be a problem with unix/dos newline
characters? Any hints are welcomed!

BTW, I have a PC with WinNT4.0, cygwin 1.1 and ruby:
$ ruby -v
ruby 1.6.0 (2000-09-19) [i686-cygwin]

/Robert
