Ah!  I think I see the difference -- my version is entierly in
Ruby itself, no C code or changes to the interpreter are needed.
(I had an earlier version that fooled around in parse.y, but
it seemed that that might lead to maintenence issues...)

Is that the difference, or am I misunderstanding?
