[ruby-talk:01602] Ruby/Tk problems.

I have 2 Ruby/Tk related problems, one on UNIX/AIX and another on PC/NT.

==== 1 ====

Has anyone managed to get the Ruby widget demo running on any version of
UNIX that wasn't installed or configured for use with Japanese? I can't get
widget running at all unless I remove all the "non-normal" text characters
(relative to "normal" English/ASCII characters) in strings.

==== 2 ====

I've encountered problems trying to run the Tk-related programs found in the
ruby/sample directory of the PC release. I'm running on Windows NT, and I
previously had Cygwin B20 installed.

I can run othello.rb OK, but running tkbiff.rb produces:

[[The instruction at "0x6d0d1ba0" referenced memory at "0x00000028". The
memory could not be "read". ...]]

Running tkbrowse.rb and other programs produce similar results.

In the README.cygwin, it says that "In case cw3215.dll causes page fault,
try cw3220.dll." I didn't see any mention of cw3220.dll on
http://sourceware.cygnus.com/cygwin/ or the download pages. So what should I
do now? Could somewhat more informative directions be provided?

Also, on the "Download Ruby" page, it would be a big help if the directory
that the "You can get compiled binary for Win32/DOS" link leads to also
provided a README file with a description of what all the various download
files are for, and which ones are needed together.

Thanks,
Conrad
