From: Kazuhiro HIWADA Date: 2000-02-25T02:55:27+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:01567] Ruby: ANN: rb2c-0.6.1, a Ruby-to-C translator Hi, I released rb2c-0.6.1, a Ruby-to-C translator. It's confirmed on i686-Linux, and will work on Windows with cygwin/mswin C compiler. http://easter.kuee.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~hiwada/ruby/rb2c http://easter.kuee.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~hiwada/ruby/rb2c/arc/rb2c-0.6.1.tgz rb2c-0.6.1 is working beta for rb2c-1.4, based on ruby-1.4. Any comments, suggestions and patches are welcome. Technically, it's an abstract interpreter of Ruby's syntax-tree. It scans the syntax-tree, and produce the C code, that is expanded eval loop. Say, you can get application specific ruby-interpreter. Eventually: * You can get scripts run a little bit faster. * Compile and link produced code, and you'll get only one executable. OTOH, * It's less reliable than the ruby interpreter. Enjoy it. Thanks, hiwada -- Kazuhiro HIWADA excuse my buggy English
