[ruby-talk:01391] Some Questions - Parameterised Types / Invariants

From: Nigel Rantor <wiggly@...>

Hi there!

I have just stumbled upon Ruby today, read the FAQ and I have been
playing with the language. So far so good. I had a search through the
archived mailing list and didn't find any answers so here I am.

A couple of questions regarding language features.

1. Parameterised Types / Template Classes

Are there any plans to add the above to Ruby? If not how do you guys
think the best way to implement type (class) safe generic data
structures is?

2. Invariants / Pre|Post Conditions

Is there anything in the works to be able to have Eiffel-like invariants
and pre/post conditions without having an overhead of checking for a
'debug'/'check' variable?

Regards,

  Nige
