[ruby-talk:16550] Tk problems

Hello all...

Trying to figure out what's going on here.

I *thought* the Tk stuff was working fine for
me a few weeks back... but this weekend
things are not looking good.

FYI, I'm running Win98SE, Ruby 1.6.2 Cygwin.

Trying out the "Hello world" program from
the Pickaxe Book works fine.

However -- first problem.

I thought that I could append "m" onto "padx"
and "pady" (giving "padxm" and "padym") and
switch from pixels to millimeters. It didn't change
anything (though it ran). Also tried "c" and "i"
(cm and inches). Then I thought: Maybe I'm
supposed to append it onto the numeric value.
So I changed the numbers to strings and
appended characters. No luck. (Somehow it
ran the same way, though it hung at the end.)

Second problem:

Trying out the Pig Latin example works fine
*except* that when I press Exit, it crashes
Ruby (with an illegal operation). For what
it's worth, the details are below.
