From: Pixel Date: 2001-06-08T00:46:39+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:16307] -fomit-frame-pointer and segfault When compiling with -fomit-frame-pointer, ruby segfaults with gcc-2.96 and gcc version 3.0 20010528: pixel@no:~/rpm/BUILD/ruby-1.6.4>./miniruby Segmentation fault The problem comes from: Init_stack.c:1027: rb_gc_stack_start = __builtin_frame_address(2); As far as gcc's info page knows: (Getting the Return or Frame Address of a Function) On some machines it may be impossible to determine the return address of any function other than the current one; in such cases, or when the top of the stack has been reached, this function will return `0'. This function should only be used with a non-zero argument for debugging purposes. So using __builtin_frame_address(2) seems not a good idea? cu Pixel.
