Hm, I thought replies on RubyForge were forwarded to ruby-core, but 
apparently not so I'l. post again.

This does not appear to be specific to Pathname. It looks like
YAML will dump, but not load, custom classes. I get the same
error with this bit of code:

require 'yaml'

class Foo; end

hash = {Foo.new => 123}

a = YAML.dump(hash)

YAML.load(a) # BOOM!

So, it looks like custom classes used as hash keys will dump
fine but not load.

Also, this bug is not specific to Linux, nor is it a 64bit bug.
I see the same behavior on my Windows box.
