Initial Comment:
I ran into errors when trying to install the rake gem. The problem might be
with ruby 1.8.3 and it's standard library "openssl". My insallation of ruby
1.8.2 works fine and does not have these problems. OpenSSL is installed on the
server in the standard location "/usr/local/ssl" and hasn't been changed since
my ruby 1.8.2 installation. Other programs relying on OpenSSL appear to be
working fine. Here's the relevant information:
# uname -a
