[#6076] Question about cgi.rb's read_multipart method and possible fix — "Zev Blut" <rubyzbibd@...>
Hello,
segmentation fault on require 'yaml'
Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: # Summary: [BUG] segfault on ruby 1.8.3 (2005-09-21) [i486-linux] (isolated as related to require 'yaml') sisu/ruby segfaults running ruby 1.8.3 (2005-09-21) [i486-linux] require 'yaml' causes segmentation fault. I have managed to isolate it and produce non-segmenting versions of the same program. Apologies in advance, what i have to submit are a few thousand lines of code, and one line that causes the segfault, apparently even when not used by the rest of the code. Current versions of sisu segfault: http://www.jus.uio.no/sisu/SiSU/download http://www.jus.uio.no/sisu/SiSU/download#source http://www.jus.uio.no/sisu/SiSU/download#debian (debian is the easiest way currently to install sisu) http://packages.qa.debian.org/s/sisu.html http://www.jus.uio.no/sisu/SiSU/changelog Narrowing the problem a little, here is some code that does not segfault: http://www.jus.uio.no/sisu/debug/ it contains a (newer) version of the code for sisu with use of yaml commented out. to cause segfault, uncomment line 56 (require 'yaml') in file: lib/sisu/0.26/sysenv.rb segfault also occurs if require 'yaml' is moved earlier in processing e.g. to bin/sisu and occurs on require 'yaml' regardless of whether yaml is acutally used for anything. segfault has been repeated on multiple installs of ruby (same version) and more than one machine. On SiSU http://www.jus.uio.no/sisu to run sisu, some sample files are provided in data/sisu-examples/sample/document_samples_sisu_markup/ usually mapped to /usr/share/sisu-examples/sample/document_samples_sisu_markup/ cd to directory sisu -hv gpl2.fsf.s3 (there are several other possible command flags see man pages) SiSU is written in Ruby. There are no extensions, though external applications are used when their functionality is needed, and for these it needs a Unix/Gnu/Linux environment. YAML is used to get optional user configuration and sisu version. (debian is the easiest way to install sisu as sisu calls on external applications where needed e.g. to convert latex to pdf, and where a database such as sqlite or postgresql is to be used... however for it's basic function, plaintext, html, latex, xml output, external applications are not required) sisu has worked in ruby since 2000.
