well I don't have _lots_ of experience in Ruby world but...

in the unix world, people has their own favorite editor, so I'd say IDE
is good for beginners and business people but not core developers.

I was thinking something like Eider for Ruby.  or some tool to create
database front end.  (does VB do for MS Access? i've never have chance
to use them..)

to create those tools, we have to have complete ruby/gtk in the first
place, IMHO.
