I submitted a patch to remove imlib from core ruby/gtk a while ago.
I'm not sure whether we continue to distribute imlib with ruby/gtk or
make it different package.

I also wrote a module for gdk-pixbuf to learn about it.  some sample
is already there but don't have time to convert all examples in
ruby/gtk.  even I did, I wouldn't think it'd be included in ruby/gtk.

because even though GNOME2 is going to use/require gdk-pixbuf, gtk
itself is independent from graphics libs

plus, as Ian said, gdk-pixbuf itself is not yet officially released.
