It appears that I posted my previous message 
three times!

Sorry about that. The web-based email I am using 
at the moment gave me an error (twice) when I hit
Send, leading me to think it hadn't gone through.

FYI, re: my previous message, I also tried adding to
Class instead of Object, and I tried checking the
existence of the method "super". No difference in
results.
