Andy, Dave,

OK, you've (tentatively) sold me on it. I've seen it mentioned quite a bit
in connection with various GNU projects, so I've been wanting to check it
out.

I probably won't get a chance to look in to this (not to mention some other
previous performance related issues I wanted to check out) until this
weekend, but I'll definitely check into it.
