time.rb は、Time を継承した際にうまく機能しないように思います。

たとえば、

$ cat t2.rb 
require 'time'
class Time2 < Time; end

とした場合、同じ httpdate でも、形式の違いにより、Time になったり、
Time2 になったりします。

Time2.httpdate("Sunday, 06-Nov-94 08:49:37 GMT").class #=> Time
Time2.httpdate("Thu, 01 Dec 1994 16:00:00 GMT").class #=> Time2

time.rb の定義本体で、Time への直接的な参照を控えることにしたいのです
が、どうでしょう。
