[ruby-core:25946] Object#object_id can be duplicated for different objects
Hi, I had a weird bug that took a long time to sort out because I naively thought Object#object_id would uniquely identify each Object.new instance. I am guessing MRI and YARV returns the address of the object. This means if an object gets recycled, that address could be reused, and the object_id repeated. It's understandable, but surprising. JRuby, on the other hand, returns a runtime counter as the object_id, just wondering if it would make sense to do something like that. Howard -- blog: www.metacircus.com
