I think the "prefix" is correct.  Did you mean "bindir":


ruby = File.join(
  RbConfig::CONFIG['bindir'],
  RbConfig::CONFIG['ruby_install_name'] + RbConfig::CONFIG['EXEEXT'] )

puts ruby
