http://svn.ruby-lang.org/repos/ruby/trunk/misc/ruby-style.el を直接ダウンロードして使っていたのですが、ruby-style-revision が "$Revision$" のままになってしまうため、

(defconst ruby-style-version
  (progn
   (string-match "[0-9.]+" ruby-style-revision)
   (substring ruby-style-revision (match-beginning 0) (match-end 0)))
  "Ruby style version number.")

の string-match がマッチせず、直前のマッチによって(match-beginning 0) (match-end 0)の値が決まってしまっていて、args-out-of-rangeになることがあるようです。
