[ruby-talk:04178] Partly converted English Ruby/Tk widget demo working.

Hi,

As an interim preliminary step towards try-it (Tutorial Ruby Yielding
Interactive Toolkit), I've got the Ruby/Tk widget demo partly converted
from Kanji to English. It now pretty much works on AIX (with a week or
two old development version of Ruby and Tk 8.2), and much of it works on
Win/NT (with the binary distribution of Ruby 1.4.5 and Tk 8.3).

When I am finished, is there some way that I can make these files
available as a tarball stored at the RAA, without having to provide a
link to another web/ftp site?

One curious thing that I noticed is that the individual widget demos run
by the Ruby/Tk widget program start up noticeably slower on the AIX
machine than on the NT machine, even though the AIX machine is much
faster. Moreover, Ruby/Tk doesn't seem to be using more than a small
fraction of the available CPU time of the AIX machine. Any idea of what
it might be doing?
