[ruby-talk:03781] Widening out discussions

I was wondering--how many developers on ruby-lang also read
ruby-talk? I see some interesting discussions go by on ruby-lang (at
least I think they're interesting, justing from the subject and the
code examples ;-), and I was wondering if there was any way we could
try to bridge the gap somehow and involve us ignorant non-Japanese
speaking folks in them.

I think it would be totally unfair to expect the Japanese developers
to use English - I'm incredibly grateful that so many of them do, and
do it so well, when they participate here. But I suspect there are a
larger number who would not feel comfortable or productive doing so.

Some time ago there was some discussion about setting up a machine
translation gateway between the mailing lists? Did that ever get
anywhere. I've done some basic web searches, and I can't find any
freely available services that will do it.

With the growing popularity of Ruby outside of Japan, it would be
great if we could find a way of unifying these discussions
somehow. Does anyone have any ideas?

Regards

Dave
