[ruby-talk:03930] Status/plan for Ruby "freeze"/packaging feature?

Are there any plans for an easy way to pack a Ruby application (possibly
consisting of many files and/or extensions) for stand-alone execution on a
possibly non-Ruby-aware machine? I think Python have some ways of doing
this called "freeze" or something similar to that?

I guess the options today is to use rb2c or to bundle the interpreter with
the needed files. Other ideas/options/info? Future plans?
